Jamie Nagode

Voice and Music Studio

I am a professional vocal technician and music teacher, providing individualized instruction through one-on-one voice and music lessons. I have a background in music performance, education, film, songwriting, and engineering. As a musician and former student of the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, CT, I can offer a wide range of instruction, from preparing for auditions to performing on stage, to singing karaoke and recording original songs. I provide coaching for all ages and experience levels.

I began studying voice in 2007, learning from vocal instructors in Denver, Evergreen (CO), Wheat Ridge (CO), Loveland (CO), Boston, and Hartford. I have studied music theory, ear training, audio engineering, piano, ukulele, and guitar. I've sang in various chamber choirs, performed lead roles in numerous musical theater productions, sang with jazz ensembles, and participated in two All State Choirs prior to college. At the Hartt School, I studied classical voice and acoustical engineering, as well as  improvisation and jazz and in various jazz circles.

Currently, I write as a solo musician (Snarklet) and play in an electronic duo act (Bun Bun), and have performed in venues locally and nationally. In film, I work behind and in front of the camera as a writer, director, producer, and actor. With visual art, I've been experimenting with mixed media stills, drawing, collage, photography, embroidery, and sculpture. I'm working on a joke book and some sketch comedy with other local comics, and I sing for myself every day.

Vocal health is at the center of what I do as a vocalist and teacher. It is the number one priority for anyone practicing this craft, and the techniques I teach are a direct result of prioritizing a healthy and functional singing voice. Prospective students can expect to learn to sing in a healthy way, to apply proper vocal technique to songs, and implement music theory concepts in their voice and compositions. The study of voice is a practice with creativity, joy, challenges, and growth. It's a process, and it's fun.
